well I am going back into the business of bashing some heads in with a club, spoke to a few old EQ buds and they will be joining us on the Thunderaxe server.
I know there is a Euro server and if you guys are heading over I wish you well.
Alot of what I know about an MMo I learned with you fine people of Illumanati, I hope a lillte of what I knew rubbed off on some of you.
That being said if I run into you in Vanguard you can always count on me for Taking all the loot I can grab!

I've been looking at it, but what are your thoughts on Vanguard and its potential?

If anyone at all has be involved in any part of Beta for Vanguard, shoot me a message with your thoughts if you don't mind.

I was in open Beta for about 3 weeks, untill they shut down the beta servers tuesday night.

The game itself has some really interesting aspects, adventuring, crafting and diplomacy.

The adventure part is a challenge without doubts, ppl who never played EQ was whining alot about the corpseruns and deathpenalties, specially those who only played WoW. It is gonna take a while to get lvl 50 with adventureclass you choose. You will get depending on a group if you want to explore dungeons do not try to go in solo cause mobs there will carry dots from numbers 2 to 6, the higher amount of dots the harder the mob is.

Crafting can really take time out of your day, gathering materials, get work orders from taskmasters and so on, this part of game is something you can work on when you dont feel like grouping or XP'ing.

Diplomacy is really entertaining, kinda like playing cards, here you can get some really wierd and wicked stories out depending on how well you play your cards.

I tried at lvl 35 to group with some friends i made on the sleeper a few months ago, and i found out that the mobs we fought is tougher than EQ and that was mobs that would be considered a walkover in EQ. thx to the dot system this con system means you need to watch what you pull, so you dont try to solo a dot 3 mob wich is meant to be duo.

2 dots = this mob is meant for solo.

3 dots = this mob is meant for duo.

4 dots = this mob is doable with 4 to 5 ppl.

5 dots = this mob requires a full group.

6 dots = this is a raid mob.

As i said above i find the game very interesting and entertaining. Lots and lots of content to be discovered and i think the game got alot of the same charm as EQ had when i first started back in 99.

I played to level 20 in the beta and loved it. I missed Bard from EQ and the way you HAS to work together to survive is just great.
Wow was just too easy for me.

I cant wait for our first dragon :)

I played a rogue and a cleric, they cleric was more of a battle cleric then a eq cleric.
The rogue spends 99% of the time in stealth mode, alot of the same eq skills go into the rogue.
Yes the game seems alot more involved then eq was at first.
EQ had its time in the sun and I am glad for that, this is the next generation of eq I think.
I can't wait to develop our own ways of taking down mobs, who knows they maybe asking us we how the hell did you kill that dragon.
Tib best of luck in your new guild, we have 30+ heading over already and it should be a blast.

i really dont know where i'll be going, part of me wants to be with friends through many years on EQ and part of me wants to go with AO who gave me a good time on the sleeper (progression server).
But I also know the danger of a US server so i really need to consider this because i am not so sure that i want to experience the same issues AO ran into with europeans on the sleeper again.

I think i could be tempted in dumping AO and go for the european server, because i dont want to get to 50 and then be forced into a US guild in order to raid. so keep an eye out cause i can very well end up on the euroserver instead, also it depends on my RL friends.

I'm not going with Arch Overseers.

I am not as loyal to them as to friends i played with in illu through serveral years, so choise for me is easy to make.

The game has to be the best MMO launch I ever played. The seemless world is awsome.

The game is not for the faint hearted. The mobs are no easy task. The game is not really for the solo player. It can be done but it would be some slow leveling.

The game still has its issues but overall I give it a 8 out of 10.
Good luck o n your euro servers, they just added a new one and Kick some bootie.

Faern!
Were you Faern in Vanguard beta as well? I had you on my friends list looking for you for ages, but never saw any Faern online :(

I played beta and hated it. It was too much like EQ but without the "omg I want to play more" factor.
Not that EQ has had that effect on me in years either though. lol

People say it has gotten a lot better now after they went live (or during public beta), but I just can't bring myself to get involved in a game like that again.
